Steps
Prepare the Turkey: Cook the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat and let it cool before using.
Cook the Oatmeal: Prepare the oatmeal according to the package instructions. Ensure it is cooked thoroughly and allowed to cool to room temperature.
Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground turkey, cooked oatmeal, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed pumpkin, and coconut oil. Stir until well combined.
Add Nutritional Boost: Mix in the ground flaxseed and ground turmeric for their anti-inflammatory properties. Optionally, you can add a pinch of ground ginger and ground cinnamon for extra flavor and potential health benefits.
Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the top is lightly golden brown.
Cool and Serve: Allow the turkey and oatmeal bake to cool completely before serving it to your dog. Cut it into appropriate portions based on your dog's size and dietary needs.
Storage: Store any leftover portions in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze individual portions for longer storage.
