Ingredients
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
cooked, lean ground beef | 2 cups |
cooked pumpkin puree | 1 cup |
cooked green beans (chopped) | 1/2 cup |
olive oil | 1 tablespoon |
ground chia seeds | 1 teaspoon |
chopped fresh mint (for a refreshing touch, Optional) | 1 tablespoon |
Steps
Prepare the Beef: Cook the lean ground beef in a skillet until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat and set aside.
Cook the Pumpkin: Cook or steam the pumpkin until it's soft. Mash it into a smooth puree.
Prepare the Green Beans: Steam or boil the green beans until they are tender. Chop them into small pieces.
Mix Ingredients: In a large pot, combine the cooked ground beef, pumpkin puree, cooked barley, chopped green beans, olive oil, and ground chia seeds. Optionally, add a pinch of ground cinnamon for added flavor. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
Simmer: Place the pot over medium heat and allow the stew to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together and the stew reaches your desired consistency.
Serve: Allow the beef and pumpkin stew to cool down to a suitable temperature before serving it to your dog. Ensure the portion size is appropriate for your dog's weight and daily caloric needs.
Store: Store any remaining stew in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Alternatively, you can freeze portions for longer storage.
